I plan to do this on the new site once it is up and functional, so I figured I might as well start it out here. This will give you an idea of what to expect for reviews coming up and kind of give you an idea of some of the books I am in to.

Oh and the blurbs are courtesy of Goodreads!

The Alpha Drive

By: Kristen Martin

It’s the year 2055 and an anarchist organization has taken control with the aim to create a world-class society. Half of humankind is unknowingly living in an alternate reality called Dormance . . . and there are no plans to wake them up.

Sixteen-year-old introvert Emery Parker is one such dormant. An academic scholar who avoids ruffling feathers at all costs, Emery finds herself being transferred to a boarding school on the outskirts of Arizona. Little does she know, a family secret has the power to change the course of the future. When she’s approached with an opportunity to free the dormants, she sees no other choice but to accept, even though failure could mean having her memory wiped clean.

But when tech-savvy Torin Porter reaches out to her from the other side, Emery begins to question everything she was told about Dormance. If her family’s secret falls into the wrong hands, the world as she knows it will be faced with irreversible consequences. Now Emery must play both sides to uncover the truth about her family’s past or risk leaving mankind to live in an unconscious reality.

I’m pretty excited to read this one. I’ve been watching Kristen Martin on YouTube for a few months now and I finally ordered the book! It’s exciting and I love supporting Indie author’s. I’ve found a few amazing books by doing so.

Before I Fall

By: Lauren Oliver

For popular high school senior Samantha Kingston, February 12—”Cupid Day”—should be one big party, a day of valentines and roses and the privileges that come with being at the top of the social pyramid. And it is…until she dies in a terrible accident that night.

However, she still wakes up the next morning. In fact, Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.

My cousin loaned me this book as well as The Shack and I’m excited to read this one. I’ve heard really good things about this book and I’m thrilled that she loaned it to me. I just have a bad habit of focusing on a certain series and then four months later I still have my cousins books. I tried to read The Shack last month but couldn’t seem to get into it even though it sounded amazing and more my style than this one did. I guess my cousin and I just differ on what we like to read.

Lover Eternal

By: J.R. Ward

Within the brotherhood, Rhage is the vampire with the strongest appetites. He’s the best fighter, the quickest to act on his impulses, and the most voracious lover-for inside him burns a ferocious curse cast by the Scribe Virgin. Owned by this dark side, Rhage fears the time when his inner dragon is unleashed, making him a danger to everyone around him.

Mary Luce, a survivor of many hardships is unwittingly thrown into the vampire world and reliant on Rhage’s protection. With a life-threatening curse of her own, Mary is not looking for love. She lost her faith in miracles years ago. But when Rhage’s intense animal attraction turns into something more emotional, he knows that he must make Mary his alone. And while their enemies close in, Mary fights desperately to gain life eternal with the one she loves…

I read Dark Lover last week even though I wasn’t planning to start the series until this month but I just couldn’t wait to read it so now I am on Lover Eternal and I’m actually almost finished with the book and really like it so far. So you can look for this review to come soon as well as the one for Dark Lover!

Lover Awakened

By: J.R. Ward

A former blood slave, the vampire Zsadist still bears the scars from a past filled with suffering and humiliation. Renowned for his unquenchable fury and sinister deeds, he is a savage feared by humans and vampires alike. Anger is his only companion, and terror is his only passion—until he rescues a beautiful aristocrat from the evil Lessening Society.

Bella is instantly entranced by the seething power Zsadist possesses. But even as their desire for one another begins to overtake them both, Zsadist’s thirst for vengeance against Bella’s tormentors drives him to the brink of madness. Now, Bella must help her lover overcome the wounds of his tortured past, and find a future with her…

Of course, since I have started the series, I now have to finish it and since I have like nine of the books, I have to read them until I run out before I can think right again, so,this will be on the list to read this month as well.

That is all I have for you this time around. I am trying very hard to get the new site up and running but for now you can subscribe to my monthly newsletter. I will be giving out more details on there. Also, if you sign up for my newsletter, you will get all information first, like becoming beta readers or critique partners. So make sure to check my post that contains that information and sign up!

Another Book Haul

I have been waiting all day to post this one. I knew it was coming but had to wait for the mailman who seems to take his time when it comes to delivering packages as it is nearly 2:30 in the afternoon but he finally came through!

Ta da! My latest haul! Not much compared to how many books I have recently purchased but I have to say that I’m overly excite about Lifeblood! I had it pre-ordered for two weeks now and I can’t wait to delve back into that world and see what Gena Showalter has to say about Ten’s journey in the afterlife.

Speaking of Gena Showalter, you might notice a theme with this haul. They are all her books! I love Gena Showalter ever since I read her first book nearly ten years ago but since I took a break from reading now I have to play catch up and that’s exactly what this is, my catch up on one of my favorite authors!

Book Haul for March

So I finally received the books that I ordered on Amazon that I had talked about in one of my previous posts. I’m so excited about these and I honestly have one more shipment of books coming from Amazon because I had to order Lifeblood after I read Firstlife but that will be a post for later this month once I recieve it.

I love Stephanie Meyer and I’m very excited to read The Chemist. Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside are a series that I read a long time ago in High School. I’m pretty excited to read these ones again and relive that fantasy world.

Ok so I’ve mentioned before that I love Gena Showalter and the three books I have here I have read before but they are amazing and part of her Adult Alien Huntress series. I’m hoping to eventually have the whole series but I started with the first three.

I had purchased the second book in the Fallen series by Lauren Kate a long time ago, not realizing it was part of a series. I never read it and have been waiting to buy the first book. I hate reading books in a series out of order. It kind of defeats the purpose of a series, in my eyes. So now that I have the first two, I can’t wait to start it.

The Time Traveler’s wife was one that was suggested to me and I had wanted to see the movie when it came out so I’m actually pretty excited about starting that book.

The last two, Gone With the Wind and Scarlett, are two of my prized books from my haul. I’ve read both and I can’t wait to travel back in time and read them again. My two most favorite classics of all time and just knowing that I now own them is exhilarating.

I have so many new books to read now that it’s been difficult to decide on which one to read next. Each one holds a special place in my heart and I can’t wait to share each one with you!

Book Haul February 2017

This past weekend I made the 45 minute journey to our nearest bookstore that I knew was going to have the books I wanted. I walked in and was overwhelmed by the store at first. They had everything from kids books to historical to games and movies to coffee. I had forgotten how it felt to walk into a store like that and at first I just stood there looking around the place, unsure of where to go first.

I spent a good half an hour in there. (My husband thinks it was longer. He waited in the car.) It was so hard to decide which books I wanted and I would grab a few and then put a few back. Eventually, I walked out with this haul:

The Girl on the Train had been recommended to me by a few people so I figured I would just buy it. Red Queen, I have heard so much about this one and I am very excited to read it, same with Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Now, Firstlife has a special place in my heart because I love Gena Showalter and recently purchased a few of her alien huntress books. I’ve read a few of them back when they first came out but those were a few of the books that ended up lost in my four years of not reading and moving…a lot.

Over this weekend, I spent close to $100 in books. These four plus I ordered a bunch from Amazon which I am currently waiting on. Those ones will probably end up in my haul in the next couple of weeks, so be on the lookout. 😉

Borrowed Haul

So I recently got back into really reading again after quite a long time. Unfortunately, during my time away, my book shelf dwindle drastically. In fact, this is what I had left of my once amazing collection:

So, my cousin who is as big a fan of reading as I am borrowed me the stack of books in the first picture to help me get going again. I am currently reading the Lovely Bones and Water for Elephants was recommended to me by my son’s best friend’s mom.

The other books were once my cousin thought I would like and I honestly can’t wait to start reading them. Only problem is that I recently went on a major book haul from the book store 45 minutes from me and now I have a major stack of to be reads that I can’t wait to read. Now I’m on a mission to finish all these books so I can buy more. Anyone else have this happen? I’m intoxicated with new books and can’t wait to read them all!
